“Focus on growing your list all of the time as newer subscribers are more engaged, adding to healthier open rates and ROI.” – Karl Murray
Email marketing is a powerful and effective marketing tool for all types of businesses. However as with anything in marketing, you need to focus on consistently growing your list for it to be effective and to get the returns you are hoping for.
Fresh subscribers are often more engaged, which helps boost analytics, loyalty and if your content is valuable – often leads to higher conversions.
So, how do you build and beef up your email marketing list?
Add Embedded Forms to Each Page of Your Website
Don’t give your audience the opportunity to miss your sign-up form. By having the form on every page, you are ensuring it won’t be missed.
At the very least, you should ensure it is on the most frequently visited pages, such as your About and Contact page.
Create a Variety of Landing Pages
By having a larger number of landing pages, you ensure that you are reaching a wider demographic. According to Hubspot, companies saw a 55% increase in leads when moving from 10 to 15 landing pages. Personalised, bespoke landing pages allow a business to really target the right audience each time.
Your customers will come to your website for a variety of reasons, so by having a range of landing pages you make it easier for their concerns to be answered and therefore increase your likelihood of receiving more sign-ups.
Create Personalised Call to Actions (CTA)
On each blog post you write, or each landing page you create, you need to create a personalised call to action.
Those who visit specific blog articles on your website, are usually after an answer to certain pain points. For example, if you have an article on meditation tips, then you can entice that audience over to a landing page offering a free meditation guide in exchange for them signing up to your newsletter.
By tailoring messages, you are offering customers valuable content which will hopefully encourage them to sign up to your newsletter.
Think About the Language in Your Call to Action
Your audience needs a reason to subscribe, so give them one - language such as ‘Download’, ‘Exclusive’ and ‘Access’ can be effective and encourage action!
Use Social Media to Gain Sign-Ups
Use your current network and social media following to build your email list. Create a series of social media posts to pitch to your followers as to why they should sign up to your newsletter. Include a link in the post and just like that… your list should start growing.
How Can You Regularly Work on Your Email Marketing List?
Just as you would work towards meeting other goals in your business, set targets you would like to reach for your email marketing list. Think about your marketing strategy and about how you can work the above tips into your schedule for the next month.
