Introducing Free, Automatic Spam Testing

Nobody can deny that there's a lot of junk email floating around, and as such mail systems have become more and more strict over the past few years as to what mail they let in, and what they don't.

Mailservers look at a number of things before they make a decision about an incoming email, wether it is spam or not, and some of the main things they look for are:

• The content of the email. Does it look like a legitimate email? Are there any phrases within it that look very "spammy"? Does it contain lots of images and barely any text? Etc.
  
  
• The links in the email. Are the links known as spam links on various black lists and other system? Do they link to a valid site?
  
  
• The sender of the email.
  
  
• The subject of the email.

In the past it has been pretty difficult to work out wether your mails are hitting a spam filter and getting rejected, or being moved to the dreaded "Junk" folder. There are tools available such as Glockapps and SendForensics which do a great job of analysing an email and letting you know if there are any issues, but using 3rd party tools means creating test campaigns, importing sample subscribers, adding tracking codes to your templates and finally sending to the 3rd party and then waiting for the results.

And you have to do this EVERY time you make a change to your template, to see if it's been effective. Oh and of course, these tools are not free. Usually they charge for
individual tests. 

So all things considered, its a bit of a pain to ensure your templates are good to go, right?
