Transpond MCP

Currently in open BETA

Overview

The Transpond MCP lets you connect your Transpond account to AI tools like Claude, Chat GPT, Cursor, and VS Code. Once connected, you can look up contacts, review campaign performance, draft emails, and build automations just by describing what you want in plain English.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants work securely with the apps you already use. Transpond hosts the MCP server for you, so there's nothing to install or maintain.

Key benefits include:

  • Get answers about your contacts and campaigns without building reports
  • Draft campaigns and templates from a short description
  • Build multi-step automations conversationally
  • Sign in securely with your Transpond login, with no API keys to manage

Who can use this feature? Anyone

Available on: Growth, Advanced and Ultimate

Enabling the MCP Beta

The Transpond MCP is currently in beta, so you'll need to turn it on before connecting your AI tool:

  1. In Transpond, go to the User menu > Early Access Features
  2. Follow the steps to enable the MCP beta

Setup Instructions

All AI tools connect to the same server URL:

https://mcp.transpond.io/mcp

The first time you connect, a browser window will open asking you to sign in to Transpond. Once you've signed in and approved access, you're ready to go.

Claude (web, desktop, and mobile)

  1. In Claude, go to Settings > Connectors
  2. Add a custom connector and name it Transpond
  3. Paste the server URL: https://mcp.transpond.io/mcp
  4. Sign in to Transpond when prompted to approve access

If you use Claude Code, you can add the connector from your terminal instead:

claude mcp add --transport http transpond https://mcp.transpond.io/mcp

ChatGPT

  1. Go to Settings > Plugins > Developer Mode > Enable Developer Mode
  2. Go to Plugins > + > Add Custom MCP Server > Create MCP App
  3. Give it a name, and add the server URL: https://mcp.transpond.io/mcp
  4. Confirm that you understand the risk and Save.

Using a different tool? Any AI tool that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP can connect using the server URL above.

What You Can Do

Once connected, your AI tool can work with the following areas of your Transpond account:

  • Contacts and Groups: Look up contacts, search Groups, count subscribers, and view Segments, tags, and merge tags
  • Campaigns: List, create, and update campaigns, create templates, and view stats including opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes, and replies
  • Automations: List, create, and update multi-step automations, and add contacts to an existing automation
  • Forms: List your forms and view form details
  • Site Tracking: View site visitors, tracked pages, events, and contact activity
  • Transactional Email: List and view your transactional emails
  • Account: View your account and user details

We're adding new capabilities regularly, so this list will grow over time.

Some actions only read your data, while others make changes to your account (for example, creating a campaign or an automation). We recommend reviewing anything your AI tool creates in Transpond before you send it.

Example Prompts

Not sure where to start? Try one of these:

  • "Count subscribers in my Newsletter group"
  • "Which contacts opened my last campaign but didn't click any links?"
  • "Draft a newsletter announcing our spring sale"
  • "Build an automation for my Newsletter group: when a contact joins, send a welcome email, wait 3 days, then send a tip"

Security and Privacy

  • Secure sign in: The Transpond MCP uses your Transpond login (OAuth). No API keys are created or stored in your configuration files.
  • Usage limits: Rate limits are in place to keep the service fast and reliable for everyone.
  • Full visibility: All requests are logged so we can monitor usage and troubleshoot any issues.

Disconnecting

To stop an AI tool from accessing your Transpond account, remove the Transpond connector or MCP server from that tool's settings or configuration file.
